Excursion Description
This exciting adventure begins at Piano Provenzana, where you will meet your volcanological guide for a brief initial briefing at 18:00. At 18:30, you will depart with our special 4x4 off-road vehicles along a high mountain track, traced through suggestive expanses of lava and volcanic sand.
During the journey, you will visit the spectacular eruptive fracture that opened during the 2002 eruption, a unique opportunity to understand the power and nature of Etna's lateral eruptions. Continuing the excursion with the off-road vehicles, you will reach an altitude of 2900 meters near the North-East Crater, where the volcano observatory is located.
From this point, an ascent on foot will begin on a path surrounded by volcanic slag and bombs. The total elevation gain is 300 meters until reaching the panoramic point, at an altitude of 2900 meters. Here we will stop to admire the grandeur, uniqueness, and processes of the volcanic environment, combined with the spectacle of the panorama enjoyed from the roof of Sicily.
In good weather, you can see both the Valle del Leone and the Valle del Bove, along with the majesty of the North East (3327 meters) and South East (3294 meters) craters. The highlight of the excursion will be waiting for the sunset, which transforms the volcanic landscape into a surreal scene of colors and shadows, offering unforgettable emotions and sensations.
The tour ends by returning, crossing Piano delle Concazze, and then descending to Piano Provenzana, the arrival point of our excursion, with the magical twilight atmosphere accompanying the return.
